With a fourth service pack for its SQL Server 2005 Microsoft fixes several bugs. This includes, among other things, a weakness in the authentication of the administrator account "sa". It results from, that use different instances of the server the same salt value to encode the password. This "certain types of brute-force attacks easier," would, reads the description of the bug.
